# APIMock > Free hosted mock API server and fake REST API for developers and teams who need to build before the backend exists. 50,000 monthly requests, no credit card. - Hosted mock endpoints: pick a method, route, status and delay, or import OpenAPI/Swagger specs to mock a whole API at once. - Response templates: build dynamic responses from request data and safe Faker generators. - Request inspector: inspect headers, JSON body, query parameters and timings of every request in real time, and copy any as cURL. - Fake CRUD resources: declare a resource and get persistent REST CRUD endpoints with pagination, filtering, sorting, and seed data. - Fault injection: simulate slow network latency, 500/503 server errors, 429 rate limits, and broken payloads to test error, retry and loading states. - Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: create, edit and inspect mocks from Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or Cursor with an API token. - Team workspaces with roles; each workspace serves its mocks from its own HTTPS subdomain. ## Docs - [Quickstart](https://apimock.dev/docs/quickstart): Create a free APIMock account, build your first hosted mock endpoint and call it with cURL in about five minutes, with nothing to install. - [Overview](https://apimock.dev/docs): Complete guide to APIMock: build dynamic mock responses, persist stateful CRUD data, import OpenAPI/Swagger specs, and simulate latency and 500 errors. - [Response templates](https://apimock.dev/docs/template-engine): Generate dynamic mock responses from request headers, parameters, and safe Faker generators for realistic test data. - [Response variants](https://apimock.dev/docs/response-variants): Return different mock responses from one route by header, query, path, cookie or body field, by weight, or on demand with the X-APIMock-Variant header. - [Resources](https://apimock.dev/docs/resources): Declare stateful resources and get instant, persistent REST CRUD endpoints with pagination, filtering, seeds, and reset — a hosted json-server alternative. - [OpenAPI import](https://apimock.dev/docs/openapi-import): Import a Swagger or OpenAPI spec into mock endpoints that serve its examples, with CRUD paths as live Resources, request validation and re-import. - [Inspect webhooks](https://apimock.dev/docs/inspect-webhooks): Use your mock URL as a webhook inbox: point Stripe, GitHub or any provider at an unused path and see each delivery's headers, query and body. - [Fault injection](https://apimock.dev/docs/fault-injection): Simulate network latency, 500/503 server errors, 429 rate limits, and broken payloads to test frontend error boundaries and retry logic. - [MCP server](https://apimock.dev/docs/mcp): Connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor to APIMock's remote MCP server to create, edit, debug and delete mock APIs from your coding agent. ## Pricing APIMock is free. There are no paid plans. The free tier includes: - 50,000 mock requests / month per workspace - Up to 3 workspaces, with team members & roles - 7-day request history - Resources, fault injection & MCP server - [Pricing](https://apimock.dev/pricing): Plan details and how to support the project. ## FAQ ### Do I need a credit card to start? No. APIMock is free — there are no paid plans and nothing to upgrade to. ### Where are my endpoints hosted? On APIMock's hosted infrastructure. Each workspace gets its own HTTPS subdomain, so there's nothing to deploy or run yourself. ### Can I use my own domain? Not yet. Each workspace serves its mocks from its own subdomain, e.g. acme.apimock.dev. ### Can I manage mocks programmatically? Yes. Create an API token in Settings, then use the MCP server to create, edit and inspect endpoints from Claude or any MCP client. ### What are the limits? 50,000 mock requests a month per workspace (resetting on the 1st, UTC), 7 days of request history, and up to 3 workspaces. Over the request limit, mocks return 429 until the month resets. ### How is APIMock different from JSONPlaceholder or json-server? JSONPlaceholder provides static dummy data that cannot save edits or let you customize routes. json-server gives you CRUD, but only runs locally on your machine. APIMock gives you hosted, shareable HTTPS mock APIs with real persistent CRUD (Resources), dynamic templating, OpenAPI import, and fault injection with zero backend setup. ### Can I generate mock APIs from OpenAPI or Swagger specifications? Yes. You can import any OpenAPI or Swagger spec (v2, v3, or v3.1 in JSON or YAML format) to automatically generate all endpoints and mock schemas in one click, with support for re-import reconciliation. ## Blog - [5 Best Free Mock API Tools Compared: Beeceptor, Mockoon, Postman](https://apimock.dev/blog/free-mock-api-tools-compared): Compare the best free mock API tools: APIMock, Beeceptor, Mockoon, MockAPI.io, and Postman.
